Art Preview + Holiday Update!

Hi folks!

I've been celebrating the holidays a little, so this update comes a little later than usual. And yet, two more stretch goals have been unlocked thanks to your efforts! More leg tattoos and digital item cards (!) for all the magic tattoos! That's wild. I will be honest and let you all know that I did not expect to reach these heights when I started the project. I just wanted to make a wonderful book, and everyone's just been helping to make it better and better. I am so grateful, thank you all so much! 

We are on the cusp of unlocking yet another stretch goal so the prompt for this update will be reflective of us almost clearing all the initial goals I had thought up. To all backers: What sorts of stretch goals or social stretch goals for the Tome of Mystical Tattoos would you like to see? Phrased in another way, what sort of additions or modifications do you potentially want to see in the book? Some people have already suggested awesome opportunities to me through messages, like "multiple alternate covers", or long haul stretch goals of potentially creating an optional digital PDF making the tattoos compatible with other systems like Pathfinder 2E! (Woah)

Lastly, I have selected the tattoo parlour crowd characters! Please check your inboxes if you haven't already! It was tough, but I definitely stuck with those who adhered to the prompt and made sure to tell a story about their character. We would have covered the physical description later! To everyone else, I'll try to make more opportunities for cameos so please don't be disheartened.

You've unlocked TWO stretch goals!?

So in the span of a day, you wonderful folks have helped the campaign hit two stretch goals! That's ridiculous... ridiculously incredible! You have now secured a digital artbook,  36(!!!) full-page illustrations and 10 more tattoos in the "Arm" section of the book! 

A successful poll from the last update has also led to backer Kristine's beautiful suggestion of a Bustling Tattoo Parlor becoming one of the unique illustrations you all unlocked! A big thank you goes out to everyone for your suggestions and your votes.

Next up, we have some interesting news which was not supposed to be announced for a while! Backers ianquest, Nathan, and Landon raised the suggestion that we cover more tattoo styles in the book. Well, I am happy to say that we are definitely planning on doing so! We had actually planned to include more styles the moment we tripled our funding goals, so in future updates, you will be receiving sneak peeks into the new tattoo styles to be included. Three, to be exact. 

Lastly, let's work on the illustration a little more. This is going to be a BUSTLING tattoo parlor, right? That means we need to make sure we can fill that place up with people. If you would like, consider writing up a short story about your player character and an interesting in-game situation they encountered. I will be doing selection this time, and if selected, your character will be seen within the tattoo parlor illustration! In other words, that's a very high profile cameo in the book for you and them!

Fifth day... fourth stretch goal!?

So I assume we'll slow down at one point (I have to assume that) but for now we have hit the fourth stretch goal! This one's going to be quite interesting, a brand new class has been unlocked thanks to your combined efforts - the Tattooist! Of course, this will be a bit more complex, so I will be creating this class immediately, and proceeding to playtest and consult with other awesome creators to ensure you all receive a fantastic addition to the book! 

Moving on, from our last update we had backers Kristine, HaseoBodom, and Nathan submit awesome suggestions for full-page illustrations. We are going to put this to a vote! Just leave your preference in the comments section! 

1. Portal-esque illustration (Creature essentially entering and exiting a magical doorway from one location to another)

2. A bustling arcane tattoo parlor

3. Tattooed adventurers winding their day down by the campfire

These all have the potential to be quite beautiful, so it can go either way and it would still be a wonderful new piece for the book. I would love to hear everyone's input! 

Lastly, I have added a few empty slots onto the "Creative Backer" tier due to high demand. It's still limited so if you were disheartened by it being full up, now's your chance!

It's over 9000!!!

Okay, well. I don't believe it either, but here we are! We are over $9000. That's 300% of the funding goal and it doesn't look like we'll be stopping any time soon! Thank you once again, everybody, this book is going to be amazing and honestly, it's because there's already been so much support for the project. 

From the last update, we asked for all your opinions on what the new tattoo design could possibly represent, and we heard some awesome responses! Backers Kristine and Gavin struck gold, however, and we will now be tailoring the tattoo to their specifications: "...probably something divination based like commune" and "...seams to be a summoning circle so summoning and planer circle". Look out for your combined efforts in the book! 

However, not to be outdone, Nathan, Adaby, Rovi, and Victoria also put in some great suggestions. I am going to say it right now, I love community input. Therefore, you will each see shades of your suggestions amongst other tattoos within the tome as well. Thank you for your contributions! 

Lastly, we passed another stretch goal for even more tattoos in the "Neck" section of the book! That's fantastic! I'll be getting right to work. But first, here's a sneak peek at one of the new full-page illustrations we are finishing up and adding because of passing our previous stretch goal.

We hope this adds some excitement, especially considering that this isn't exactly your "regular" skin type ;)

Day 3: We've met our second stretch goal!!

Hi folks,

First of all... wow! But four full-page illustrations in each of the six sections (Head, Chest, etc.) is a big change to the book! This means seeing way more of the tattoos being used in all their glory! 

I'm excited too, and that also means a lot of work ahead. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated on our progress. Also, here's a bit of a sneak peek into a tattoo not included in the sample or any of the artwork we've displayed already:

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what properties this tattoo may have? You can write down your guesses in the comments section and we might consider rolling with it ;)
